2026 Lexus NX vs. RX

The NX and the RX approach interior room differently, and the difference is felt long before you look at a spec sheet.

The RX is built to hold more. Its wheelbase measures 112.2 inches, roughly six inches longer than the NX. That length translates directly to rear legroom and cargo capacity. The RX carries approximately 29.6 cubic feet behind the second row. The NX carries approximately 22.7. For a Gwinnett household managing GCPS schedules, sports equipment, and a Costco run near Suwanee, that difference is practical.

The RX 350L adds an available third row, seating up to seven passengers. For families with multiple children, visiting relatives, or a regular full crew, the 350L offers an option the NX does not.

Both models include Lexus Interface with wireless Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and wireless charging standard. The 9.8-inch touchscreen is standard on base trims; the 14-inch display is available on upper grades. The RX adds Traffic Jam Assist on upper trims. It handles steering and speed automatically in stop-and-go conditions. On I-85 southbound during morning rush, that feature earns its keep.

Both vehicles run the same 2.4-liter turbocharged four-cylinder, producing 275 horsepower and 317 lb-ft of torque through an 8-speed automatic. They feel different on the road.

The NX 350 is the more responsive of the two. It reaches 60 mph in an estimated 6.6 seconds and carries a lower center of gravity than the RX. The handling is sharper on Sugarloaf Parkway curves and more confident at on-ramp speeds. The F SPORT Handling trim adds Adaptive Variable Suspension, which tightens the chassis further.

The RX is built around a different priority. Its 5-arm multi-link rear suspension produces a smoother, more settled highway ride. On a 35-minute run down I-85 or up I-985 toward Buford, the RX absorbs road imperfections with more authority. The trade is some of the NX's agility.

The RX 500h F SPORT Performance takes the performance ceiling further, reaching 366 combined horsepower with Dynamic Rear Steering. There is no NX equivalent to this trim.

Here is where the NX makes its strongest case for Gwinnett commuters.

The 2026 NX 350h FWD returns an EPA-estimated 40 MPG combined, new for 2026 and improved over the 2025 model. The NX 350h AWD returns an estimated 39 MPG combined. The RX 350h AWD returns approximately 36 MPG combined.

More than 55 percent of Gwinnett County residents commute at least 30 minutes each day. There is no MARTA rail connection to most of Gwinnett, so most of those miles are behind the wheel.

For a buyer putting 28,000 to 32,000 miles annually on their vehicle, the math is calculable. The NX 350h's efficiency advantage over a base RX 350 translates to roughly $1,000 to $1,400 in annual fuel savings. Over three years, that gap compounds.

The NX 450h+ delivers an EPA-estimated 37 miles of electric-only range. The RX 450h+ delivers approximately 38 miles. For Gwinnett buyers who charge at home overnight, either PHEV trim runs most daily commutes on electricity alone. At 73 percent single-family homeownership in the county, most buyers have that option.

Every 2026 NX and every 2026 RX comes standard with Lexus Safety System+ 3.0 on every trim.

The suite includes Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection, Full-Speed Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, and Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist. Lane Tracing Assist, Road Sign Assist, and Proactive Driving Assist are also standard. For 2026, the RX adds Curve Speed Management. It helps regulate speed through curves when cruise control is active. On winding stretches of GA-316 or the curves near Lawrenceville, that is a small but practical benefit.
