2020 Lexus UX 200 vs 2020 Volvo XC40

The Lexus-first 10-speed DirectShift Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) helps the UX beat the Volvo XC40 and its conventional eight-speed automatic transmission in fuel efficiency. The UX system's combination of a mechanical first gear and a continuously variable belt transfer also means enhanced acceleration performance and quietness. The 2020 UX 200 also offers superior fuel economy compared to the Volvo XC40.

The UX has the advantage on tight city streets, requiring only 34.2 feet to make a U-turn compared to the XC40's 37.4. The UX's agility makes parking easier.

While both the Lexus UX and Volvo XC40 feature impressive safety technologies, the UX comes with standard Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (DRCC) and Lane Tracing Assist (LTA). An optional package is required to get similar features on the XC40. The UX also offers 10 standard airbags compared to the Volvo's seven.

The UX 200 comes standard with modern in-car technologies like Apple CarPlay®, Android Auto™ and Lexus+Alexa. While Volvo has Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™, they don't offer Amazon Alexa in-car integration.

With 42.1 inches of front legroom compared to 40.9 in the XC40, the UX offers 1.2 inches of extra comfort.

With its six-year/70,000-mile warranty, Lexus provides an additional two years or 20,000 miles of coverage for the engine, transmission and drivetrain, compared to Volvo's four-year/50,000-mile warranty.
