2019 LEXUS ES 350 VS. 2019 AUDI A4

Performance

Both vehicles deliver smooth, comfortable rides but the Lexus easily outpaces the German automobile, thanks to its gutsier 3.5-liter V6 motor. This engine is much more powerful than the A4's motor, trumping the Audi in many key performance categories. As mentioned, the Lexus houses a 3.5-liter V6 engine, which is capable of putting out 302 hp and 267 pound-feet of torque. The A4 on the other hand houses a 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine, which puts out 188 hp and 236 pound-feet of torque.

The Lexus has some serious staying power, too. You'll be impressed at the way it can climb hills and handle the highway. The Audi is likely to struggle on steep inclines.

Measurements

Both sedans have spacious interiors, as you might expect from vehicles in this class. When you're up front, you'll barely notice a difference, with the Audi offering less than 1.5 inches more headroom and less than an inch extra legroom. However, passengers in the back will have a remarkably different experience thanks to the ES 350's extra headroom and legroom. While kids won't feel cramped in either vehicles, teens and adult passengers will be much more comfortable in the Lexus.

The 2019 Lexus ES 350 also has a generous 16.7 cubic feet of cargo space. That's all the space for need for luggage, sporting equipment, and shopping sprees. It's a much tighter squeeze in the Audi A4, which has 13 cubic feet of trunk space.

Safety and Security

The 2019 Audi A4 and 2019 Lexus ES 350 both excelled in the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) tests, earning five stars a piece. Both cars also include all the safety features you might expect, including:

  • Regular driver and passenger front airbags.
  • Height-adjustable front seatbelts with pretensioners.
  • Antilock brakes.
  • Traction control.

All these features should provide peace of mind, no matter which car you drive.

The Lexus has a few more of the driver assistance technologies the NHTSA recommends though. Both cars have forward collision warning, which alerts drivers to impending hazards up front. The Lexus makes stopping easy with crash imminent braking and dynamic brake support as standard features. These technologies are available whether you choose the all-wheel drive or front-wheel drive versions. They aren't available on the latest Audi A4. Lane departure warning is a great optional extra available to A4 drivers that isn't available in the Lexus, though.

There's very little to separate cars like the ES 350 and the A4 at first glance, but look a little closer and you'll quickly see that the Lexus ES 350 has the edge over the European rival. Feel free to schedule a test drive today to see if the 2019 Lexus ES 350 meets your needs.
